What is lubricating the suspension all about?

My 2015 honda civic check emmissions light is on. I got gas recently and dont drive it much. I have re-tightened my gas cap. This happends in my 2001 fronteir and it is always the gas cap but it took a few starts and stops for it to reset. Should i get a new gas cap and do i need to drive it around and see if it resets?
