I have a 2012 Ford Escape. Recently, while accelerating from a stoplight, as it was shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, the [transmission](/topics-transmission-ford/) jerked really bad, and then I had a powertrain/throttle control warning symbol show up on my dashboard. But when I turn the car off and later turn it back on, the warning light disappears and the car drives normally. This has happened twice within the last week. Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about? The throttle control/powertrain warning indicator light Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Escape yourself? What have you tried so far? I am not fixing the Escape myself, I haven't done anything yet. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No ma'am, thank you!

I havevm three thoughts. Transmission input shaft bearing going bad. Shift solonoids fail or you need a transmission flush.

Okay, is there anything that you would recommend I personally do myself to try and fix/diagnose the problem? Or should I contact the local dealership as soon as possible?

I would not mess with dealer ship take to transmission shop or some one you trust. Check fluid and make sure it does not smell burnt.

Okay, I will check the transmission fluid and go from there.
Automotive Expert
Ok. I will leave this post open. Let me know the out come and if you need any thing I am just a text away.

Okay thank you. I will most likely check the fluid in the morning. Will I still be able to chat in this chat room tomorrow if I have any further questions?
Automotive Expert

Fuel burns and car jumps when stopped
Whatever is causing your car to run rough is probably also causing it to drink gas. Look under the hood for any vacuum lines that may be off or in bad condition. It's surprising how many problems you can solve...
My car struggles to accelerate at times, especially after making a complete stop and attempting to accelerate.
Check engine compression and intake vacuum to first rule out possible mechanical problems such as stuck or leaking valves. Among the causes of poor acceleration (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-slow-to-accelerate-inspection) are clogged fuel injectors and/or inadequate fuel pressure/volume. When an injector is clogged it...
