Q: Donor 5 speed from '95 Nissan hard body pickup. Will it bolt up to the L18 engine in Datsun?

asked by on October 27, 2016

Upgrading my Datsun, I was given a 95 Nissan with bad engine, wanting to know how much will bolt up.
My car has a manual transmission.

This is a tough case. Even if the transmission does bolt up, the difference in electronics might it difficult to retrofit to the older vehicle. The electronics must be different and there were many vacuum assisted components in earlier years that are electronic in later models. If you are going to swap the transmission, you may want to use a good engine and engine control module as well if it will fit. Either swap will be fairly expensive to perform. I will recommend you visit your local transmission repair facility to have the older unit rebuilt if you are tying to upgrade because it stopped functioning properly.

Tried pressing the clutch pedal and it just flew to the floor. It wouldn't come back until I brought it up myself.
Hi. The most likely cause of this problem is the clutch master cylinder has a leak or has just completely failed. The clutch master cylinder gives your clutch pedal the proper pressure to engage the clutch so the transmission can...

If the intake manifold has a huge piece broken off of it will the car still start then cut off ?
If the broken off piece is admitting unmetered air to the intake, then yes that will have the effect of stalling the engine. A big initial concern is be sure no debris gets in there because anything in the intake...
