Mechanic's Assistant: How old are the [brakes](/topics-brake-dodge/)? How many miles on the car?
The breaks are brand new its a 2003 dodge [ram 2500](/topics-ram-2500/) 4x4 with a 8" lift im not sure if the pinion is broke or my drive shaft is bent I jacked it up and the tires move by hand just fine
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Ram 2500 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Yes I am fixing it myself I just replaced the axle shafts and u joint wheel hubs break calibers and rotors
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
Only what would cause the front to lock up when going forward and it dies it even when I just let it roll forward after a couple feet but goes just fine in reverse

Sounds like the caliper isnt bolt right or the pads are seated weird, put it on jack stands and have a helper engage in drive while you watch the caliper assembly and other parts you installed, it should be obvious when it locks up.

Would a bent drive shaft or drive line cause it to lock up going forward amd if it's the calibers how would I fix thatI can't call at the moment

it shouldnt no, if it was bent enough to do something like that you would def see it, and if its the calipers the would simply need to be bolted in correctly, hard to say until the problem is found. get it up on jack stands and see whats going on, do some investigation.

sounds like something in the differential is locking up, if you have a helper rotate the other tire forward as well does it lock

When I have it jacked up and roll one tire the other tire rolls the opposite directionOnly when rolling the tire forward does the other tire rotate in the opposite direction if I roll the tire in reverse the other tire doesn't move

yes get someone one the other side and both rotate forward, if it locks up you should be able to feel or hear where the lock up is coming from, can only be the diff or transfer case, sounds like everything else is free.

the transfer case transfers power from the transmission ans the diff is the middle chunk in your axle aka differential
