Mechanic's Assistant: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?
Fluctuate, it powers some then goes completely out
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Chrysler 300 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Yes, my son is studying auto mechanics in college and is fixing ourselves. We added [transmission](/topics-transmission-chrysler/) bc it was low, replaced engine computer component, and tried to jump battery so far
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
I think that's it

Good Afternoon, my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* ill be helping you, so sorry to hear about the issues here on the Chrysler. i know how frustrating it can be to deal with a loss of power. What computer component was replaced? Are there currently any codes stored?

This was what was replaced, we purchased it from flasmaters.com I don't know what codes are showing yet, checking codes was going to be our next step since the battery died while we were waiting for the part to arrive and it couldn't be recharged by a simple jump

okay good, it was programmed which was my next question. check those codes to see what is setting but if the vehicle is dying after the jumper cables are removed we most likely have an issue with a very weak battery or the charging system not keeping it charged up. verify that when running you have higher than 12 volts at the battery, should be around 14.6 for a good alternator. if its under that you are likely dealing with a bad alternator which can cause all of these other issues.

The voltage readings wouldn't go above 12-13 volts to the battery

then it will be a faulty alternator most likely

Still not sure what you need?
Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.
Hello. It may very well be that there is a leak in the radiator, but it is also possible that there is a leak in another area of the coolant system. All of the radiator hoses, as well as the...
First thing you want to do is you want to drive it until the gas tank is almost empty because the gas tank weighs a lot less than it does full. When it's full, it's a royal job. But, when...
If your vehicle is shaking and losing power, the most likely cause is fuel or ignition system related. I would recommend having the fuel pressure checked by a qualified professional to determine whether or not the fuel pressure is within...
Make sure you have good battery cables and battery terminals as well. Check for any fine cracks on the terminals, which can lead to a loose connection. A faulted sensor like a coolant sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/coolant-temperature-switch-sensor-replacement) or air temperature sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/ambient-temperature-sensor-switch-replacement)...
Hi there. It really depends on what the source of the electrical glitch is; which will determine the repairs needed. I'd wager that the issue is an electrical fault with the brake switch that is causing this. However, since you...
Hi there. To be quite honest, I've never experienced any issues with the manual transmission third generation Dodge Ram 3500 Dually. The problems I have seen are typical with automatic transmission powered 3500's and have more to do with torque...
Hello. Your particular vehicle should honk the horn only after the second press of the key fob button. On the first press of the button it will just flash the lights. I did find a little information on the topic...
Failure of the screen in the cam bridge that you are referring to is not uncommon. Indeed, the OEM bridge was updated and presumably that (the update) was installed in your vehicle. So long as all oil passages were clear...
Hi there. Typically when the AC compressor is cycling, it will draw more power from the engine, which might make an existing rough idling engine "feel" worse. This could be caused by fuel system components like mass air flow sensor,...
