Does the engine turn over but not start, or does the engine not turn over at all?

HI,
While possible it is the crank or cam sensor, more likely the crank sensor between the two, it may need to be reset due to the engine shutting down due to the loss of oil.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and then the positive battery cable and touch their ends together for 5 minutes, then reconnect and try to start

Ok I will try that I did disconnect the battery but didn't touch the ends together

HI
Ok, that will explain it. That is the electronic power control light which is for the electronic throttle body. Check the connectors at the throttle body for any being disconnected or damaged wiring

Ok, no problem.
you also need to check the sensor at the gas pedal to make sure the connector is connected and no wiring damage.

I don't know why anything would be damaged I just got out of car when it shut down on me and really haven't been in car much and have done nothing more than put oil back in I haven't done anything else to pull any wires or damage anything?I'm looking under hood for throttle body

HI,
Ok, look at your air cleaner. There is a large round tube that comes off it. Follow it to where it ends. Where it ends is the throttle body.
HI,
Without hands on testing I cannot tell you why it may have failed or what happened. I can only tell you that with the EPC light on, it will not start and that the light is for a fault in either the throttle body or the gas pedal sensor at the top of the gas pedal.

Ok, check the wiring at the connector at the top of the gas pedal.
If it is ok, then unfortunately it will require a professional level scan tool to determine which of the 2 has failed.

how about the cam shaft sensor? Crank sensor? The scan tool we do have is basic and the cam shaft sensor is coming up when we do scan

HI
Dont worry about them as it wont be either.
the EPC light tells us the issue - the electronic throttle system. Either the throttle body or gas pedal sensor. It takes an advanced one to test both of these

Ok I will see if I can find one or go to shop that can do it for me! So you think me replacing the cam shaft and crank sensor would be a waste of time and money?your saying to scan with a professional type scanner right? How about fuse?
Eric

Automotive Expert
HI
That is correct.
no fuse as it is computer controlled. If fuse for computer was bad, engine would not turn over
Customer

Ok then one more time can you tell me what I need to do?

HI
You need to have a shop with a professional scan tool test the throttle body and the gas pedal sensor.
