How many miles between last transmission fluid change and this one?
If never changed before, how many miles on the vehicle?
What color was the old fluid, did it smell burnt, did it have metal debris in it?

In either case, there is a distinct possibility that this is due to wear of the direct clutches. When fluid is that old, it thickens due to clutch friction material suspended in it and basically making up the gap between the direct clutches and holding them together. Once the fluid is replaced, the transmission no longer works.
This is why shops typically will refuse to change the fluid on a vehicle with more than 100,000 miles since last changed as there is a better than 60% chance that the vehicle will no drive out of the shop afterwards.
There is one other possibility. That is that you did not get the fluid filter secured and it fell down and fluid is not being circulated. So I would drop the pan and check the filter
