Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked your tire pressure? Do you have a tire gauge?
I don’t, but as I said I took it to a mechanic this morning and they filled it and checked it
Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your Prius?
2007
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Prius yourself? What have you tried so far?
I turned on the car without the [engine](/topics-engine-toyota/) and proceeded to press the reset button below my steering wheel but my pressure sign started sort of sputtering but not disappearing
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
No, thank you though!

Hi Mads. Nice to see you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating.
Please give me one moment to type out some information for you. Sit tight one minute... I'll be right back!
Thanks for holding, Mads.
The tire pressure warning reset button is located below the driver's side dash. The procedure you are using 'is' the correct procedure. If the light is not resetting, this means there is a problem somewhere in the monitoring system. Very commonly here is a faulty tire pressure sensor. There is one located inside each tire, as part of the valve stem assembly. If you just had the tires replaced, there's a strong chance the sensor was damaged during the tire replacement procedure. These pressure sensors are extremely touchy. The slightest jar can harm them. To figure out which pressure sensor has failed will require the use of a scan-tool that can read the outputs from these sensors. Once found, the tire is removed from the rim, and the pressure sensor replaced.

in the meantime as I make preparations to see my mechanic to replace this sensor; I am safe to drive on my recently filled tires? The light is simple a result of a sensor malfunction?I haven't had them replaced, but recently filled and pressure checked

Absolutely perfectly safe to drive the vehicle. The pressure monitor is strictly for driver information. It plays absolutely no role in any other systems what so ever.

It is an incredibly rainy day where I am located right now, With traction occasionally flashing briefly I just wanted to make sure I am not going to get a flat on the road. So in your professional opinion you believe I am safe? (Apologies I am simply concerned for my car and safety)

The smell of smoke may indicate that you have a slight oil leak on your engine somewhere. The hood will get hot, and this is normal. The engine compartment can be 200 degrees fahrenheit or maybe even a little hotter....
The rattle is most likely a strut or sway bar problem, the stalling may be caused by the idle air control valve sticking, and the brakes stopping low calls for a complete inspection due to safety reasons. I recommend having...
This can be caused by a variety of things. I would agree with the dealer that floor mats can often times interfere with the pedals in a car. The other thing I would be sure to check is the cruise...
If the engine is overheating (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-overheating-inspection) to the point where it's shutting off and blowning coolant out of the tailpipe, you have a bad situation. A failed distributor or cracked coil may cause the engine to stall when warmed up....
Hello and thank you for contacting YourMechanic. Blue smoke coming from the tail pipe is an indication of the engine burning excessive engine oil. Check the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/positive-crankcase-ventilation-pcv-valve-replacement) to determine if it is operational. The oil...
