Hi there, Sorry to hear about all your car troubles. My Name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I am an ASE Master Tech here to assist you with your vehicle. Please understand I am not there with you, But I am here to help. Any information about what is going on is greatly appreciated. The system will ask for a phone call, Please let me know if you want this option as I am not always available to do so. Be aware that I am assisting many customers at the same time and will get back to you as quickly as I can but I cannot get answers immediately as I am not a computer. I like to research each answer before I get back to you to ensure that I give out the correct info. Thank you for understanding. If you already checked the fluid level and it was ok then the next step would be to make sure your shifter is actually moving on the transmission. For this [engine](/topics-engine-toyota/) the shifter will be located on top of the transmission. Have a helper get in the vehicle and shift from park to drive slowly to see if the shifter moves on the transmission. If movement here but nothing at the wheels you will have an internal transmission fault. I would suggest reading any fault codes that might indicate an electrical fault or similar. To do this you will need a OBD2 code reader. Based on the age of the vehicle the chances of transmission failure are high. A normal transmission with regular use last around 150k miles and about 15 years or so depending on how it is driven. If the pan for the transmission is easily removed or a drain plug is present I would suggest dropping it and catching some fluid in a clear mason jar to inspect for metal shavings. If there are shavings in the fluid then this will indicate internal failure. If no shavings are found I would suggest starting with replacing the transmission filter and seal. Then attempting to drive the vehicle again. If still nothing then a replacement will still be needed. You cannot check for shavings with the dipstick as the shavings are heavier than the fluid and will drop to the bottom of the pan. I always shoot for a 5 start review. If you have any other questions or in need of any other help, please let me know. If you think my answer was not that of a 5 star rating please let me know what I can do to assist you further. I want to answer all concerns that you have about this issue. Tips are not required but highly suggested, I work hard to give you the best answer and appreciate the extra thank you on your side. Thank you for understanding and thank you for using Just Answer!
