I have a 1991 toyota [corolla](/topics-corolla/), it has an automatic transmission. The transmission shifts into all gears with little play in the shifter. Does not have any forward motion, bit reverse works just fine. Checked the transmission fluid and it IS dark, so needs a change but is that all? Or should I check anything else for a potential transmission issue? Mechanic's Assistant: How many miles are on the Toyota? Is it the original transmission? 125,000ish miles not sure if it's the original or not Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Corolla yourself? What have you tried so far? I will likely be fixing it myself. Looks like the fluid is dark and in need of change and it is missing a belt but I don't think that will effect the transmission.
