Good morning Roy it smelled like burning plastic/ sweet smell. It happened when I was accelerating and kept smoking it lookied to be from the steering wheel vent area

OK, I would go to a shop and have it checked. It could be an electrical issue and the last thing you want is a fire.
I would rather you be safe and have it checked rather than ignore it and cause more damage.

That comes from excessive heat either from insulation burning on wires or wires resting against something hot.

I do not know what is wrong yet. Once the issue is found, then I could give you an estimate.
If it is the heater core, that requires full dash removal. That would be 800-100.
If it is electrical, I need to know where the failure is located.

Okay I am going to move the car in about an hour to see if there's a leak underneath to see if maybe that's part of the problem. then I'll have to take it in and have it looked at. I'll give you a text back once I know forsure

No, not at all. It is a foam type filter that will not emit any smoke at all. It just filters contaminants.
