I would start by checking the drive belt, if the [alternator](/topics-alternator-ford/) isn't spinning then the car is running off the battery. Once the battery is out of power it's going to stall and not run anymore.
If the belt is good, then have the alternator tested, it could be the alternator not working.

Ok, engine off, you want to spin each pulley by hand, all should spin except the bottom one. If you find one that doesn't spin it's probably the reason the belt is gone. If they all spin, the auto belt tensioner is probably shot.

The crank pulley shouldn't spin so you probably can't see it or get to it.

Here is a diagram of the belt routing and the pulleys. I highlighted the tensioner pulley, you actually may have to go and remove the passenger tire, then remove the inner fender to access these
