Oil gauge going up and down erratically at the first stop...

Hello, welcome and thank you for using Justanswer. Yes , ops (oil pressure switch ) is the most common problem ,I would take it back to them and make sure they use the dodge original part . If it does not fix the problem they should ground the switch and see if the gage works properly, wiring problem or lack of oil pressure after the engine warm up is also possible ,but it should do it all the time after the engine is warm. Yeah the truck doesn’t do it after I’ve been driving it for awhile, no engine noises when the pressure drops , no no overheating and may I add I jus had an head gasket Job at the same time of the oil change

If they use an original dodge oil switch and you still have the same problem ,like I said ,they need to check for possible bad gage or wiring , also they can use a mechanical oil gage where the switch bolts to the engine and check to see if the pressure drops . To me , if there is no tapping or knocking noise from the engine the problem is going to be a defective/wrong switch or wiring/connection problem. Let me know. Thank you.

The wiring and ops switch is good, good oil pressure alsoThere recommending dropping the oil pan and cleaning some screen/tube, they say it may be getting what’s getting clogged up and that’s why I’m having drops in oil pressure randomly

Its possible that oil sludge build up in the oil pan and clogged the pick up screen but that would be constant not on and off. I would try a mechanic gage first and run the engine to see if it drops and also see if engine starts making a bit of tapping noise. Also if its that bad ,you should see some of that sludge coming out of the drain plug when you do an oil change. If you decide to drop the oil pan ,my advise is to replace the [oil pump](/topics-oil-pump-dodge/) also. Good luck. Thank you.
