My car doesn't move when I put it in drive or reverse. I changed transmissions and it is still doing the same thing. I have a 2003 escalade. I got the new transmission from a friend in which was sitting in his backyard for months and so was the torque converter to go with. I can't get to the core of the problem but I kwon that it is very rare to have the other transmission put in to find out it's doing the same thing. What do I do? Mechanic's Assistant: Do you have the torque specs? I'm not even sure what that is but I assume it goes to the torque converter. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Escalade yourself? What have you tried so far? I have a personal mechanic. I've tried replacing the whole transmission. With the torque converter being outside for a long period of time. So I took it to a real mechanic and they automatically told me I needed the whole transmission rebuilt in which would cost 1@55 Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? $1500

Hello and thank you for using Just Answer. I am an ASE Certified Technician who will be further assisting you. Sorry to hear you're having issues with your Escalade. I know it can be frustrating, but let's see what we can do to get you going. Please tell me what type of test the mechanic performed to determine the transmission is faulty.

I don't think they did any test. They had it towed to another shop and told me it had a wiring issue that my personal mechanic had done. They got that fixed but still didn't fix the problem. Now they are charging me $700 to get it out the shop.

I'm sorry to hear that, I would like to understand which codes are stored in the module and what is the oil pressure to help you determine if its a mechanical issue or electrical issue.

I haven't seen no codes or nothing.

Which scan tool were you using to check for codes?

Well decor had broke down in front of my house when I was reversing in the driveway and so the transmission seem to just stop it wouldn't neutral mode so I had it towed to that shop and they told me that they electrical system was messed up so they had it towed to another shop to get it fixed now they're saying that they do transmission that I did put in that still won't work that is doing the same thing that it's doing since I put your other transmission in

Its possible, but if there's codes stored in the TCM we will need to diagnose those to confirm trans is faulty.
