Did you check Behind oil filter adapter for a crack in the block & leaking from there,you can have a Hairline crack on it,be hard to see visualy

I replace the adapter with a new one .the truck been sitting outsideThe problem happen before it got real cold . I drove it about 20 miles in the woke up the next day in had no oil . I put oil in it to make back home in woke up the next morning to another puddle .

did you check the surface mounting area BEHIND THE OIL ADPATER for a crack ?
if the adapter new and new o ring , that will be what is behind it leaking

When I start it up you can hear the gasket make a pop sound then the oil starts coming out

The know issue on these if oil coming out from oil filter adapter area is a Hair line crack on the block
can you tell if coming from there or not ?
is there any oil leak Above the Adapter or all of it under adpater area ?

You have the filter, O ring and the block where it attaches.
The way to check this is by removing the adapter you installed, clean the area with brake parts cleaner and use a high-intensity flashlight and look at the surface behind it for a crack

That where it was leaking from before I changed it . I thought it was oil filter changed that it did it again .If there a crack is the motor no good

yes I understand, this leaking can be deceiving.
in the area of leak you describing there is nothing left there other than what I mentioned that can be leaking
and yes if the crack is in the block, they can try to repair it ( welding it )or some people chose to replace the [engine](/topics-engine-chevy/) block
