Q: Car wont move when started

asked by on April 17, 2017

Car starts up good but will. Not move in any gear shifts are fine

If the shifter is moving freely but the vehicle will not move, there can be a few causes, depending on the vehicle and the transmission type. For example, if it has a manual transmission, the clutch may have failed. If it is worn completely or the friction material separated from the clutch disc, the engine power will not get to the transmission to propel the vehicle. If it is an automatic transmission, the front pump, torque converter, or valve body may have failed. It can also be as simple as low transmission fluid level. Have a certified technician look into why the vehicle will not move to find and repair the issue.
