Q: why wont my ml350 start

asked by on January 22, 2018

i bought at auction 1 month ago, havent been able to start yet. i was getting no fuel at rail , so i changed fuel pump and fuel filter now i have 55 psi at rail. spark plugs seem to have no odor of any fuel. also when i put my key into ignition and turn it it gets locked in the ignition. i have to get it out by depressin g the shift lock mechanism inside of the shift column. so a mechanic pulled that mechanism out so i could get to the button easier to release the key. does this button have to be in place in order to start vehicle? note key is recognized per mercedes mechanic. also my brake lights not working. This year model did away with the brake light switch under the brake pedal so i dont know where the new location is. also changed brake fluid pressure sensor. does the fuel preessure sensor tell injectors to operate?

My car has 260000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

You should have the computer scanned to see if there is codes for cam or crank sensors and if they are sending signal to computer so it will open the injectors. Also check injectors for pulse by the computer. If no pulse then you may have a defective cam or crank sensor.

Pressed the gas pedal and the car didn't move forward. It rather rolled backwards because the vehicle was on a hilly place. What cold have happened?

Trucks starts up but have to give gas to keep running then dies starts up a second time then it will stay running.
It sounds like you may have a dirty or failing idle air control valve. The idle air control valve (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/idle-control-valve-replacement) monitors the air intake as it is mixed with fuel prior to being injected into the engine at low speeds...

My back up camera, navigation and radio not working in my 2010 Toyota Camry after disconnecting the battery

Code coming up is P0496. I never had any problems til I tried to drive up a steep hill.
The trouble code P0496 (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0496-obd-ii-trouble-code-evap-flow-during-a-non-purge-condition-by-valerie-johnston) refers to a fault in the vehicle's evaporative emissions (EVAP) control system. Faults in the EVAP system will not typically cause loss of power. Perhaps other codes were stored but were missed in downloading that...
