My Opel Meriva Diesel Automatic (F40 gearbox) shifts up rough, higher RPM then normal, then a shock from 3rd to 4th gear but only when the gearbox is warmed up. No issues with other gears or when the gearbox is still cold. Mechanic's Assistant: How old is the transmission? Have you noticed any leaking? Build year 2011, mj 2012, I have not seen any leaks Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your F40 yourself? What have you tried so far? No, not fixing it myself. I've asked about it at local shops Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Not right now

Hi my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* does the pedal feel.

Which pedal? its not a manual, but an automatic.Does a vin number help?
Automotive Expert
They do a f40 manual as well is there any codes stored in the control module.

I can only read engine codes with one of those OBD readers, not those for the transmission.
Automotive Expert
You will have to book it in so it can be code read properly.

Its an AF40-6 to be very specific. Where would I be able to bring it in if I want that?
Automotive Expert
We only give advice i take it your are looking to avoid using a main dealer.

I remember now that my local shop (I had it in for some other work as well), did not find any codes.

Then there is an outside chance it could just need a software update.

Yeah, a dealer for this car, 9 years old, 150k km, is too expensiveA software update? even if it only happens when the gearbox is warm?
Automotive Expert
I know i worked in Holland for a bit OPEL in Gouda they really give private customers massive bills but an OPEL dealer is the only way to see if it needs an update.

Yeah, I just thought that must be a common issue, where the remedy might be known, but searching for it didn't turn anything up, even though it is used in quite a lot of cars: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AWTF-80\_SC

You do not have many independents as i remember just try this link put your postcode in workshop finder [http://www.boschcarservice.com](http://www.boschcarservice.com) let me know if you have any Bosch approved near you.

Yeah the shop I had it looked at about 500mtr from my place is a bosch car service shop.https://schellenboom.boschcarservice.nl/They didn't say anything about a possible software update
Automotive Expert
I do not think they would have the software to update if required.

Ok, thanks for the info. I will be taking it to a transmission specialist to have it flushed. Likely will solve the problem. Just hope its not damaged anything.
Automotive Expert
No problem regards Gavin.

Hard clunk noise shifting/downshifting in 2nd & 3rd
Hello there, thank you for asking about your 2006 GMC Sierra 1500HD. Since you say it only happens when shifting between 2nd and 3rd, my guess is that the noise is internal to the transmission. A faulty shift solenoid could...
