Hello Charné. Nice to hear from you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating. When the central locking stops working does this include the remote/keyfob itself not working to lock and unlock the doors?

The key works to lock the doors individually... our mechanics here told us it was the key thats faulty andthats why the car wont start sometimes, but that doesnt make sense.. when her central locking is messing around, that when the security light comes on...

Thank you for holding Charné! With the way the issue is described this does not sound like the key itself is the cause. This type of fault can be caused by a faulty body computer to where it is not reading the key properly intermittently as well as not allowing the central locking to operate to where it has to be replaced. The best way to identify the body computer as the cause is to have the fault codes retrieved using a fully compatible scan tool plugged into your vehicle's data port when the issue is occurring. You may have to leave the vehicle with a shop for a few days so they can get the vehicle to act up and then retrieve the fault codes immediately to identify it as the cause. The replacement in some cases can cost around $300 to $500 and usually has to be programmed to your vehicle when it is installed by a shop or dealer. Unfortunately, there is no way to remove or bypass the vehicle's security system on this model. The issue has to be repaired to prevent the problem from occurring again.
