Power steering into brake
Automotive Expert
Okay, what is smoking?

I don't know when I turned the car on it started to smoke I think. And it looks lithe one the line by the brakes

Putting power steering fluid into the brake system is serious as brake fluid is petroleum based so it will damage anything rubber. This means the seals and internals of the system are most likely damaged. As damage begins immediately I would tow it into a service provider and see what can be salvaged. They may be able to get away with only replacing the master cylinder and thoroughly flushing the system.

What if its as the other way around
Automotive Expert
However, if it is smoking that means fluid has made it past the master cylinder. Depending on how far it has gotten the system will need to be completely flushed and all components with rubber will require replacement including the master cylinder, potentially the brake booster, front brake calipers, rear wheel cylinders, brake hoses and ABS module. This is a full system replacement. If you get the fluid out of there quick enough you hopefully will prevent damage to the metal brake lines. What if it's the other way around? Where did you add the fluid?

How much would it cost
Automotive Expert
If you've put brake fluid in the power steering pump you've most likely damaged the pump and the rack and pinion depending on how long it's been running. Brake fluid does not lubricate the way power steering fluid does so it's like running your [engine](/topics-engine-toyota/) on water instead of oil. The pump would burn out and potentially smoke, but this would come from under the hood at the pump itself.

I tour it on and it smoke from under the hood and this was put in last night I was driving it but this morning I turned it on and it started to smoke but I haven t drove it since then

Getting it to someone (towing it) immediately will be the first step. The longer you wait the more damage will occur. A full brake job at that scale is a pretty big price range depending on what you can find used and if you're going with a Toyota dealership or local shop. Here is what I would do: Master cylinder & booster - remanufactured combo, they sell these together for many cars and it's cheaper ABS module - find a used one Calipers, wheel cylinders and hoses - all new, aftermarket parts Cheapest would be $2,000 and all new parts at the dealer would probably be around $4,500. If it's the power steering issue (i.e. brake fluid in the power steering) then your looking around $500 - $2,000 parts and labor depending on what all has been damaged.
