More then likely you can fix this problem yourself. The shifter cables are bad about the rubber grommets on the end of the cables will fall apart and the cable will not move the levers for the transmission to allow the shifter to move the shift forks for these gears. If you look on the top of the transmission where the cables connect, see if the grommets are good and hold the cables on there pivots tightly.

Okay so I was driving the car up by 75 and it kept popping out of 5th gear so I started holding it in 5th gear and then finally it wouldn't work at all in fifth gear so I had to switch down to Fourth and slow down then I stopped at a gas station and I when I went to leave I realized that reverse didn't work anymore either the transmission mount is fine and I think it's the synchronizers and I have no idea how to change them I was going to try to change them myself but I decided that I think I'm just going to get rid of the car please tell me what you think

Reverse does not have synchronizers,so that can not be your problem. It has to be your shift cable bushings.
Still not sure what you need?

Hello there, having faults within the first 5000 miles is not uncommon. This is the time where any faults from the factory will show themselves. It is entirely possible that through the manufacturing process, a piece of metal worn off...
Hi, thanks for writing in. If your AC system is leaking and it will not accept a charge it is either because the AC system is overcharged or it is leaking (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-to-find-the-source-of-an-oil-leak-by-ed-ruelas). Both of these symptoms will cause the air...
Hey there. This is a sign of a failing fuel pump (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/fuel-pump-replacement) or potentially a faulty power connection (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/fuel-pump-relay-replacement) to the fuel pump. As you know, if the fuel pump fails to supply adequate fuel pressure to the motor, this...
It sounds to me like there may be an issue with the blower fan behind the dash cover. This is the fan that creates the airflow inside the vehicle. Many times the dealer will only fix the problem if it...
Hi there - this transmission holds approximately 4 quarts of fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-long-does-transmission-fluid-last). However, it is impossible to change the fluid by simply draining the fluid - will only get a fraction of this amount. Fluid changes with a fluid change...
Hi There, What you are describing is a common sign of a dirty or failing idle air control valve. The idle air control valve (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/idle-control-valve-replacement) is a small valve on the engine's intake system that reads the air intake as...
Hi there. The shift rail in the transmission may have came apart or the fork on the rail may be bent causing the transmission to stay in gear when the shifter is in neutral. I recommend seeking out a professional,...
It is likely that the left front wheel bearing has failed. When you swerve to the left on a ramp, what you doing is transferring some of the weight of the car from the left to the right. The transference...
The most common reason for the shift interlock to not release is going to be a defective brake light switch. Check to see if your brake lights come on when you press the brakes? If no lights come on then...
