Hello. The most common cause of a speedometer not working on your Jeep is a bad vehicle speed sensor. It can always be a gauge or wiring issue, but those are not as common. With a computer scan tool, a mechanic would monitor the speed signal to the computer. If the computer does not see a signal, then the sensor is more than likely bad. If the signal is present, then there may be an issue with the gauge itself or the wiring to it. A voltage meter would be needed at that point for further testing.
