2008 G6 3.5L. Under heavy accel, the engine ‘cuts out’ at 4000rpm in every gear. It is a shutoff type of response. If I keep pedal planted it throttles back/down like I let off down to idle. Just purchased car, owner thought it wa...

Mechanic's Assistant: How many miles are on the Pontiac? What size is the engine?
130k 3.5L
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your G6 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Yes. Haven’t tried anything. It has handful of O2 sensor codes. Was going to start there. I have seen how the cat can be clogged. But it doesn’t ‘sputter’ or struggle. It hits a limiter or threshold had cuts out.
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
No thanks

A bundle of O2 downstream it looks like, I wasn’t sure if a O2 issue like this would cut the car off like that.

Hello, Clay
P0036 bank 1 sensor 2 heater issue
P0054 bank 1 sensor 2 heater resistance
P0056 bank 2 sensor 2 heater issue
P0060 bank 2 sensor 2 heater resistance
P0141 bank 1 sensor 2 performance
P0160 bank 2 sensor 2 activity
P0161 bank 2 sensor 2 performance
You obviously have some O2 sensor issues with the sensors or their wiring but those should not cause the symptoms you have. I believe there is a concern with the fuel pressure not able to keep up. I do recommend diagnosing and addressing the codes, steps are shown below, but I would also check the fuel pressure during the 4k RPM issue.

The fuel pressure should stay between 56-62 psi.
Thank you for seeking us for help, I hope I provided what was needed. Press reply if you need to follow up. If you liked my answer please let me know so I can mark your question complete. Moose

Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.

Hello. There are many things that can cause a vehicle to suddenly stall out. You mention that there was an issue with the power windows (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/window-is-not-working-inspection) and door locks (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/power-door-locks-are-not-working-inspection), this may be an indicator that the issue is electrical...

Faulty ignition coils can certainly reduce engine power. Ignition coils provide electricity (anywhere from 25 to 50,000 volts) to the spark plugs. That spark ignites the fuel mixture, which forces the pistons down and creating horsepower. With two faulty coils,...
