Is this a altima or maxima?
As far as the battery is concerned you would need to take that to the auto parts store to have it load tested. replace if failed if not they will charge it for free.
For the gear change have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition?

It's an Altima. The car wouldn't start. Got a jump and the battery got hot and boiled water out of the cells. Then today put it in gear and wouldn't move. Had to place it in park then drive several times before I got it to work
