New engine in car ..does the ecm have to be reprogrammed ...

Im not sure how this works if it will becoming from a different source. I only answer questions about vehicles. I have no control over how things are transmitted. for all I know he might have to open another request.

ok well ill try to answer what i can he called the nissian dealer in town and they say the ecm is programmed to that particular engine and he would have to take it in to reprogram it, which i dont believehe was going use the wiring harness that came with the motor from the junk yard so he unplugged his existing one and the plugs didnt match up so he plugged in the original one and now it wont fire

ok, if one of the plugs didn't make up then its not the exact same engine. so it will need programmed was it from the same year and engine size?

i asked if its getting gas and he not sure so they tried starting fluid and still wouldnt run no it from a 2016 and his is a 2019

ok, then its not going to work. what is the vin from his car and from the one the vehicle was removed from? whats the 4th digit of his vin?
