Mass Air Flow Sensor on G25 2011 Infiniti for a year now this has been a thing. Car runs fine with an occasional tug on acceleration. Is the sensor easy to DIY? My local mechanic is estimating $750. We have already pumped $5K into this car and it is my 17 year olds at this point so we are just trying to keep it going for a few more years. Has $165K miles on it. Mechanic's Assistant: Does the engine stall right after starting? And what about hesitation or jerking during acceleration? Occasional hesitation Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your G25 yourself? What have you tried so far? Yes fixing myself and haven't tired anything yet

Hello Stacia, Nice to meet you

Hi thank you.
Automotive Expert
I am sorry to hear about the issue you are having with your G25. I will do my best to help you with thisAre you getting any type of fault code that would point to the MAF Sensors?

Thank you. We are really just trying to maintain for a few more years so we don't have to take on another car note while also keeping the car properly maintained to get the most out of it.the diagnostic ran in 2019 said Mass Air Flow. We went ahead and just had the Check engine reset for $275 (hindsight wish we would have researched more and just fixed it) Now Service Engine Soon light is back on and same issueThe only symptom we have seen is the slight hesitation on acceleration
Automotive Expert
The MAF sensor can do that. What is the fault code you are getting?

I don't know if this is the code but DTC P0101 and/or P010BWhat I have been told is i it were a bad ECM it would start and that maybe it is a bad harness or loose hose but they can't find any of that.I saw a youtube video that showed how to disconnect (but it wasn't on an infiniti so I don't know where that is) while the engine is running and if the car stops running then you know for sure it is the sensor
Automotive Expert
Thank you.. Those are indeed MAF Sensor codes. They could be due to bad MAF sensors or may require updated MAF sensors and a Reprogram of the ECM. But either way when it comes to the MAF sensors, you want to get them from the dealer! Aftermarket sensors never work!

we have had it reprogramed (back in 2019) and it came back on. If I order the sensors from the dealer would I be able to install them?We just don't want to pump another $700 into the car after spending $5K on year ago when the gaskets were replaced.
Automotive Expert
Yes you can. They are easy to install. But the parts are very sensitive, so do not drop or be ruff with them.

Is there a place I can find a video for the G25 2011 on this? I have seen other videos but not for this car make/model. Also I saw the sensor parts at ORieleys Auto for about $159 each would this be a new one like from the dealer?I was told I would need two is that right?Side note: you may not live in McKinney TX but if you do you certainly look like a guy I just helped yesterday at a local costco to jump start his car. Haha
Automotive Expert
Yes, you do need two MAF sensors. They are located on each air intake by the air filter. They are secured by two screws each and one connector. Stay away from OReileys, that is aftermarket. Aftermarket sensors never work right and can cause more issues and are a big waste of money that you can't return because it's a electrical part.

Ok so only the dealer? Is there a video I can watch online somewhere that you may know of?
Automotive Expert
The sensors are so easy, you can look on YouTube, They have video's for everything. If you looks up G35 or G37 MAF sensor replacement, most of their intake systems is the same as the G25

Ok Thank you so much how do I go about looking at the cost or ordering the parts for this?On ordering the parts, sorry
Automotive Expert
If you go to the dealer you can get it

Ok I just looked online and one sensor is $300 so I may be sitting at the same cost with my mechanic fixing thisSome things I have also seen are that maybe the sensor just needs to be cleaned??? what if that is all it is?
Automotive Expert
The Mechanic will want to charge labor on top of the parts. You can certainly remove the MAF sensors and use CRC MAF Sensor cleaner to see if that will help. Just disconnect your negative battery terminal for 15 mins after you do it to clear the codes.

Thank you for all the help.
