my 1995 lexus sc400 with 93k miles i believe the transmission has gone out. i was driving it down the road at normal rpms. it all the sudden as i pressed on the gas it acted like it was in neutral. when i dropped the pan the fluid had a burning smell, small metal shavings, and completely black fluid. i changed the filter and fluid. still same issue. it shifts into reverse and neutral just fine. it revs up when trying to shift into drive but doesn’t catch.

At the transmission solenoid connector check to see if there is a voltage signal to the Shift solenoid E or lock up. The Yellow wire is the positive side of the circuit. Check the resistance of the lock up solenoid. 7.5-8.5 ohms is normal.
Check the transmission fluid to see if it looks burnt. Check to see if the fluid has been replaced. Check that the correct fluid has been used if the transmission fluid has been changed. If the solenoid resistance checks good and wiring checks good, replace the automatic transmission.

It sounds like you may have a bad wheel cylinder. Unfortunately, wheel cylinders on drum brakes have rubber seals that will deteriorate over time and will not seal and will leak. I would recommend having a technician come out and...
Since you are only getting a misfire on cylinder number 3 specifically, this informs me that the cylinder ignition is not the problem. Since the engine has a coil pack that powers two cylinders at the same time and if...
Hi There, It sounds like you may have a faulty coolant temperature sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/coolant-temperature-switch-sensor-replacement). This sensor relays the temperature of the coolant back to the ECM which uses this information to control many things such as when to turn the...
Hi there. Check the ABS controller for any bare wires or loose connectors. What may have happened is the controller could have gotten wet and caused a terminal to short due to the water. If everything is dry, then the...
If you are getting a braking vibration that seems to be present above 40 mph when braking is most likely the front rotors are slightly warped. As the warpage gets worse then the pulsation will be felt at even slower...
On your model, it probably takes around 4 hours to replace both the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets but if you have rear A/C it is somewhat longer. A gasket kit is necessary because other gasketed parts are removed...
Hi there. Assuming that you're not smoking your tires, this type of noise and smell is often associated with a worn out serpentine or drive belt, as the squealing noise is caused by the belt being loose and the smell...
You may have got oil spilled on top of the motor by whoever did the oil change. Double check the oil filter is not leaking and check oil level. If you suspect the shop did something wrong during oil change...
Whether the check engine light illuminated due to pulling the fuse you refer to will not be known until a mechanic can perform a check engine light diagnostic (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/check-engine-light-is-on-inspection). During such a diagnostic, a certified mechanic from YourMechanic (https://www.yourmechanic.com) would...
