My air stopped working in my car completely and my headlight is super bright and flickering
Automotive Expert
i will break this into two sections 1. Air if your air conditioning stopped working then you will need some specially equipment to check the ac system as there might be a leak and no freon in the system. you will need a manifold gauge set to check pressures. running pressures should be 34-40psi on the low side and 225 to 350psi on the high. You should also see if the ac compressor clutch is turning on the compressor. If its your blower motor that is not working then this could be a blower motor , fuse or resistor that has failed. you will need to check directly at the blower motor for 12v power and a strong ground. This will tell you if you have a blower motor issue, a power supply or a controlled ground (resistor) . 2. headlight usually when headlights are going to fail they can get brighter and even flicker. Check the connection at the headlight and see if the dimming or flickering changes while moving the connector. if not, then swap the left with the right headlight and see if the issue follows to the other side indicating a faulty bulb. these will be your starting points to find your issues let me know how you make out and if i can assist you further i would be happy to help! cam

ive been looking into it and most searches say its prolly my alternator failingCause at times when i get in my car the air will work but other times it doesnt
Automotive Expert
if it is both headlight flickering then yes it can be your alternator failing (bad rectifier). if it is just one headlight then it is either the bulb or wiring you can test this with a multi meter and you will see ac voltage instead of dc voltage present. your air will have nothing to do with the alternator. this could be a bad connection, bad motor. you will need to check the connections when it is not working or see if wiggling the connectors and seeing if it cuts out

Okay and how expensive could this be
Automotive Expert
alternators can be in the $125 to $350 range plus labor. blower motors are usually a bit less. i do not have exact prices unfortunately as parts vary from state to state and store to store

Thank you you were super helpful
