It sounds like you need to check the engine oil level. If it's low it might make some noise and shut off like this. Just maybe run for a couple of second and then cut off.
Check the oil and let me know please.

My husband and I was driving.. He was passing a car and ravel it up some to past , when we got down the road it started making a clicking sound. When we pull over to check it, the car cut off. We was able to get it into a parking spot and it cut off. I tried to cut it back on and it comes on and jerks and goes right back out

It really sounds to me like a low oil issue is causing this problem. Please check it and let me know.
