Why would my transmission just stopped and won't go into ...

Good Evening Is the shifter not working ? Or is the shifter working just the transmission isnt going forward or reverse ?

It may just be a bad transmission , these transmissions are know for being problematic .

The check engine light came on could it be something electronic

You can check the codes , but its probably not something electronic . It is more likely the code will tell you that there is a mechanical problem. As a general rule transmissions will always move forward and reverse without the electronics hooked up , they may not shift effectively but they will always move unless there is a mechanical problem. I need to get off of here for tonight , but let me know if you have any more questions. If you can get the codes checked i can let you know what they mean or how to check them if you want .

Can't get them checked until tomorrow

Riding down the road my transmission stopped. Pulled over and turned it off and let it sit for a few minutes. Started it back up and the check engine light came on. Shift into reverse and drive but it won't move
