Hi im getting a p2101 code on my 2005 jeep grand cherokee limited 5.7 l hemi i replaced the throttle body and the pcm not too long ago and im still having the same issues
Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, what's the exact code? And have you tried to reset it?
The exact code is P2101 and yes i tried resetting it, clearing the code with a scanner and the issues are still the same
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Grand Cherokee yourself? What have you tried so far?
Its been half and half i took it to a shop they put a brand new throttle body in it, that didnt fix rhe issue so i took it to a dealership and they said the PCM needed replaced. I replaced that and it still is having the same issue. Upon research ive done, it says that there could be a wiring issue but i havent had time to look at the wiring or the relays that connect to the sensor
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
Yes ive been trying to get this car up and running for the last several months and im kind of lost. Maybe need a pointer

I like to research each answer before I get back to you to ensure that I give out the correct info. Thank you for understanding.
Most techs have reported this failure to be a throttle body or pcm as the fix. But It seems like there is a common factor if both of these faults have been replaced. The issue to me is a wiring fault. I would suggest running all new wires from the ECM to the throttle body. This seems to be the only other issue that was found for these vehicles.
This PCM does need to be programmed. So make sure that this was done as well as the Throttle body calibration(need a factory scan tool to do these tests).
You can attempt to do a wiggle test at the wiring for the PCM and throttle body to see if the code pops on after it was cleared. This will indicate a broken/loose connection. You can clear these faults with a code reader or a hard reset(disconnect battery for 30 minutes or more).
I always shoot for a 5 start review. If you have any other questions or in need of any other help, please let me know. If you think my answer was not that of a 5 star rating please let me know what I can do to assist you further. I want to answer all concerns that you have about this issue. Tips are not required but greatly appreciated, I work hard to give you the best answer and appreciate the extra thank you on your side. Thank you for understanding and thank you for using Just Answer!

Okay so thats one thing im not sure about. I bought a plug n play pcm and after it was installed it ran fine for a good 3 days. After getting the throttle body replaced im not sure if the shop did a re learn on it, i took it to goodyear.I also think it could be a wiring issue since both parts are brand new, also the car goes into lilp mode when driving it, it turns on the traction control light, and flashes the red lightening bolt but doesnt stay on. Also doesnt throw the check engine light on. Do you think that is symptoms of bad wiring?

This is a common symptom for any Jeep or Chrysler for a throttle body fault.
I would suggest running new wires. If the PCM was not programmed you would have a ton of other faults. If the calibration was not done then yes this can also cause a similar fault but will typically throw other faults as well.

Okay sounds good i appreciate the help. Do you know how much jt would cost for a shop to replace the wiring from pcm to throttle body? Also just to note im only getting that one code which is p2101 so i dont think its throwing other faults not too sure but when i scanned the computer it just had that code

Then this will most likely be just the wiring or connectors acting up.
There will be no standard for this type of repair. I can only guess at around $300-400. It really depends on how difficult they consider it and how many hours they quote. A standard labor hour is anywhere from $100-150 depending on your area and the shop.

Okay makes sense. I was panicking thinking the computer was messed up again but since its throwing only one code/fault im glad to hear its not that again. Would you suggest that i do the re wire by myself? Or is it a very tedious thing if i dont have a lift

I would suggest letting an expert do the repair only because if you get a faulty connection it will be hard to tell. But this really depends on you and your skills doing wiring repairs.

Okay sounds good. Just to confirm, since my pcm is only throwing the one code that most likely means my pcm is fine right?
