Mechanic's Assistant: Have you tested the battery? Do you hear a clicking when you try and start the car?
There's no clicking. Look, I know it's the alternator. My jeep has had all the tell tale symptoms
Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Jeep?
2008 Jeep Wrangler X
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Wrangler yourself? What have you tried so far?
Yes, fixing it myself. Have already removed the old alternator. Just want to know from an experienced person in the field who they trust to buy parts from
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?

Hi, my name is\*\*\*\*\*’ve been a technician on Just Answer since 2007 and I'll be helping you today. I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulties with your vehicle. I know how inconvenient car trouble is, but together, we will get your vehicle back up and running quickly.
When it comes to electrical, anything aftermarket these days is a luck of the draw, to be honest. Since you don't want to go by way of the dealer I would recommend NAPA gold. Either that or get a used factory replacement. I have had decent luck with the NAPA brand, I would usually stay away from Autozone, Advanced, and O'Reilly for this particular part.
If you have any follow-up questions, please feel free to ask, it's part of the service. If not, thank you for taking the time to contact us today. I am hopeful you found my information helpful and had a good experience.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do.
Thank you.

Wow, very helpful, actually! Thank you so much! One more question since I have ya, so this Jeep has been sitting for a while and so getting it back in running shape has been a hassle. I have found that my passenger side windshield wiper does not work. Isn't even held in place properly anymore, like the arm is loose or something. I know its hard to know without actually seeing it, but how difficult is it to fix that? I'm still new to auto mechanics so I'm wondering if I can do it myself or if I'll need to take it in

First, make sure the nut at the base of the arm is tight, if it's loose all you will have to do is tighten it up.
Otherwise, it's going to be a linkage issue. I believe on this the linkage may be under the dash, to be 100% honest I haven't had to deal with linkages on these in the past.

Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.

Hi, check the rim and see if it is damaged at all. You may have hit the rim and the body of the car will be fine. The wheel however is misaligned, especially if the steering wheel is wobbling a...
In my opinion, it sounds like the charging system is not recharging the battery. It is most likely the alternator, but only a test can tell. These vehicles have had many electrical issues with instrument clusters and wiring harness problems...
Hello, thank you for your question. I'd be happy to provide my insight. The answer to this question isn't as simple as it may seem. The biggest factor is going to be the year of the two vehicles you are...
Hello. There are 2 possibilities for this whining: the clutch throwout bearing (as you suggest) or the pilot bearing. If either of them are failing, they can both whine or cause a rotational noise, and they put additional drag on...
Usually when the car will not crank but has power to other systems, the starter is a possible cause of this issue. Considering that you have had the vehicle for 9 years and never changed the battery, it is also...
Fuel could be in the fuel rail but if the fuel pressure is inadequate and/or the injectors are not functioning of course the engine won't start. Inadequate fuel pressure could be caused by a faulty fuel pressure regulator and injectors...

The article will also explain what the code means, common causes and repairs.
Overheating, which can be due to may causes of which a leaking head gasket is just one, will potentially cause coolant loss through the radiator cap as the radiator opens as a pressure relief device. Exhaust leaking into the coolant,...
