Hey i have a PT cruiser unsure of the year at the moment but i think it may have some transmission issues. It has an automatic transmission and im new to the car world so im trying to get a better understanding. The car can reverse but doesn't drive forward. It feels like it wants to go forward but it just doesn’t. Any idea what i should do? Im not trying to put so much money into it if i dont have to invest into it.

Check the transmission fluid level and condition as a very low fluid level, or a clogged fluid filter, will result in no movement. Check to be sure the shift cable is actually moving the manual lever on the transmission case into the drive detent position. If the fluid level is adequate, and there is no movement in any forward gear, typical causes are a broken forward apply band, a failed clutch, valve body or solenoid failures and comparable major failures. To get a conclusive diagnostic, the recommended service is a no movement in any gear diagnostic. If you request that service, the responding certified mechanic will get this diagnosed and explain your repair options, right at your location.
