I bought a 2003 Ford Expedition and the original owner lost the key, my husband had a friend who swears he was a mechanic pull the ignition switch out and he broke it in the process now the housing is stuck, and I am unable to put a new one in as that housing is still in there how can I get the housing out now?
Mechanic's Assistant: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged?
I can’t turn the wheel and there was no key the original owner lost it.
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Expedition yourself? What have you tried so far?
Yes, a friend who swore he was a mechanic and knew what he was doing pulled it out but he didn’t do it the way online showed to turn the screwdriver to the accessory so the pin could be pushed out and now the switch is broke and I can’t turn to accessory to get the housing out.
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
I don’t think so

I am not sure but he pulled the key switch part out and it broke while he was taking it out and the housing is now stuck in there and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get that housing out without a key to turn so I can hit the pin I've used google but I can't find any videos on how to get that part outDo you want me to send a picture of what I am working with?

It is but now I have to program the key when I turn it, the radio and everything else turns on but not the [engine](/topics-engine-ford/). I am assuming it has to do with the anti theft stopping it until I program the key. Is there a way I can program it or do I need a machine?

Still not sure what you need?
Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.
This can be caused by either a low battery charge level, or a loose connection in the starter circuit. The battery needs to be fully-charged, and load-tested, to ensure it is not the issue. All starter wires need to be...

Hi there, A number of things may cause this to happen, but it sounds like your vehicle may be a bit low on transmission fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-fluid-service) or you may potentially have a bad transmission control solenoid. As you know, the...
It's possible that the seller eliminated the catalytic converter and along with it the downstream oxygen sensor, which is illegal by the way, and also guarantees a fail in any jurisdiction where emissions testing is mandatory. Unfortunately, an as bad...
You should have your suspension and brakes rechecked to see if noise is coming from brakes or the suspension and then a diagnosis can be made. You may have noisey brakes or sway bar links.
The post is an integral part of the battery. It is not separately serviceable and thus you must buy a new battery. If the post has dislodged, or any component of the battery is "broken", be very wary about the...
