I have a 2012 dodge caliber, i was driving and got stuck on ice, i tried to get my vehicle out of the slippery patch and my serpentine belt broke, my oil started leaking along with my power steering fluid and i lost reverse in my vehicle, what happened and how do i fix this on my own, as i have my own experience, but for particularly for my vehicle because i just bought it about a year ago
Mechanic's Assistant: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?
I could drive the vehicle forward, although i shouldn’t drive it i had to get it in my driveway, it will drive forward but it will not reserve when i try it will just stall and jump out of reverse constantly
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Caliber yourself? What have you tried so far?
Yes i am, i haven’t tried anything yet because i’m not familiar with the vehicle, but my serpentine belt snapped apart and my oil and power steering fluid was dripping out like crazy
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
Yes, i’m so quite familiar with the car so i will need the mechanic to explain how to fix this step by step for me please if possible not quite familiar with the car is what i meant to say

Sorry for the delay. You have to start with replacing your serpentine belt and adding power steering fluid. Also check where the oil leak is coming from and your water pump.

You might have to add gearbox fluid it’s hard to do. But any mechanic can do it. Just to lube it a bit.

If it’s a stick shift it has a gear box.
Sometimes if you put your gear in first or second then try reverse. Can you shift to reverse?
Customer

That’s the only I can think of is to lube it more. Because all your other gears are working fine.

Gear box fluid sometimes it’s easy to add and sometimes you need a mechanic with a pump.
