I have a 2005 PT Cruiser. Not too long ago I had the computer (ECM) replaced. The old one had a internal memory failure, and the [engine](/topics-engine-chrysler/) light was comnig on. I also recently had the oil pressure switch replaced. For a while, things were okay, but the engine light is on again. And now it's leaking on the front passenger side.
Mechanic's Assistant: How old is your oil pump? Has the check engine light come on?
I'm not sure about the oil pump....but the engine light is on. The liquid coming out has no odor (none that I noticed, even with my sensitive nose), but it did feel slightly oily
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your PT Cruiser yourself? What have you tried so far?
A couple of months ago, I ordered a replacement ECM online and had a friend help me with the install. Prior to that, I had a diagnostic run on the original ECM, and I was given an estimate of over $2000 for repair and replacement. I'm on a fixed income, and I couldn't afford that. I had an oil change a few weeks ago, after the oil light came on...the problem was ude to a faulty oil pressure switch, which was replaced at a local full service station.
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
I took the vehicle back to the shop for a diagnostic. 'I was informed that there was a malfunction that was preventing them from getting a reading...they suggested that I go to the dealer or a mechanic that I trust to have the ECM reflashed or replaced.

Do you know what fault codes have set?

Unfortunately no. When I went back to have a diagnostic run, the technicians could not give me a code. From what I was told, there was some kind of malfunction with my vehicle's computer that kept it from communicating with their diagnostic equipment.

Have you used the key cycle method to check yourself?

Cycle the key from off to on three times ending with it on and watch the digital odometer display.

Due to the lack of response I'll need to post an answer without the information requested.
There are dozens of possible causes for the engine light coming on. The light comes on when the engine controller sees a failure in a monitored component and sets a fault code. The issue could be many things including ignition system issues, fuel injectors, wiring, any sensor, a [transmission](/topics-transmission-chrysler/) related issue, catalytic converter efficiency, an evaporative emissions system failure or leak including a loose or bad fuel cap; literally a failure in any powertrain component can cause the light to come on.
The first step in diagnosing the problem will be to use a scan tool or code reader to see what fault codes are setting and then testing can be done from there based on the findings.
The leak you're describing is likely coolant, which could be coming from the [water pump](/topics-water-pump-chrysler/), a hose, the [radiator](/topics-radiator-chrysler/) or heater core, given the area you've described.
I hope that helps! My goal is your satisfaction today. If you feel I've been professional and helpful, your 5-star rating at this time is most appreciated. However, if you still need my help you can reply back here and I'll respond as soon as possible! Thank you!

Still not sure what you need?
Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.
Hi there. I believe that the problem may be a seal leaking for the sending unit on the gas tank. It will require taking the rear seat out, lifting the carpet, and inspecting the seals for leaking gas. I would...

Hello. The first thing that I would suggest that you do is have an inspection of the electrical charging system (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/electric-problems-inspection) completed. It is possible that the alternator is working intermittently. There are brushes inside of the alternator that conduct...

Hi there: Unless somebody took your car for a worldwide joy-ride in one day (highly unlikely), both issues are most likely caused by a damaged transmission speed sensor (which does control both the odometer and speedometer on your Chrysler Pacifica)....
