There may be a P0700 in the ECM, but that only indicates there are codes stored in the transmission module.
I don't know if that reader will pull transmission codes.

I don't think it will but I can try

What is the condition of the transmission fluid?
Did you change it or the spin on filter recently?
Customer

The last time it was serviced I took it to a transmission shop that was two years ago I think and I have touched it.The fluid still looks good like its new

Ok, If the transfer case is clean and working then this may be a sticking valve in the valve body.

I just remembered that over the summer they put in the new bell housing I believe or something to do with the Allison's that year

Ok, here is a quick check. See if there is a magnet on the top of the spin on filter. If not then for sure you need to clean the valve body and install a magnet on that .
Customer

How do I do that? Just drain the fluid and spin the filter off and check or something else?
GM Tech (Cam)

Just spin it off. You won't loose hardly any fluid, couple oz at most. If there is no filter on top or around the threads, put one on.
But then it will need the valve body removed and cleaned. that magnet prevents smaller metal particles from getting back into the valve body and plugging it up .

If there is a magnet what else could it be?
GM Tech (Cam)

There is a small one in the pan, but there MUST be one on the top of that filter!!
Customer

Thats what I mean if the magnet is on top of the filter

IF the magnet is still there, I would still clean the valve body and look for debris of any kind in the transmission.
Customer

Ok is that something I could do in my garage?

YEs, there are no gaskets to replace, the torque on the valve body is 106 in lbs in a pattern from the inside out. Remove it, split it and clean it, use a wooden dowel or something to make sure each of the valves move.

Ok I will try that I was going to send to the shop tomorrow but I will try that first
