The engine starts and i can drive it for a few miles once its warmed up. I hit the gas and it just revs up. Then it stops moving.so to get it to move again i have to turn it off, put the key in the on position put the gear in 1 back to park then turn it on that works for a short while

Thanks for updating! Sounds like something going on with the transmission then. Recommend having vehicle scanned for trouble codes by reputable transmission shop or mobile mechanic, then have the transmission line pressure checked when it's not accelerating, to see if an oil pump issue isn't building proper pressure, or see if proper line pressure is present, and a possible valve body issue, or internal clutch pack issue is present. Roger that. Let's see about getting it scanned to see if any codes are setting in the transmission module. The instrument cluster code readouts usually wont indicate transmission issues. Recommend snap on/mac tools type scanner to check for codes. Lemme know if any are setting. If not seeing any codes, recommend having the line pressure checked when it' not moving forward/backward. Lemme know what youre seeing, or if any questions come up while checking things out!

Recommend stopping by local transmission shop, or having mobile mechanic come out to check for codes.
The scan tool that you'll need to communicate with the modules is pretty expensive, would be better to save that type of money for potential repairs. Lemme know what codes are setting and we'll see if we can get it fixed, or if the transmission might need to be replaced. Please lemme know if any questions come up while checking things out!
