Hello Jed. Nice to hear from you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating.
How long did the [engine](/topics-engine-chevy/) overheat for before it was turned off?

Not long at all. It blew at the t reducer valve underneath the overflow tank it didn't overheat for very long and when I repaired the valve the computer just isn't allowing the starter to engageSorry for the delay, I had to go into work for awhile but can talk now

No problem at all!
Do you have a scan tool compatible with this vehicle that you can plug into your vehicle's data port to check for fault codes?

Thank you for holding Jed!
On this model usually, the fault codes or computer needs to be reset to allow the starter to engage again. In order to determine this though and to reset the computer a fully compatible scan tool needs to be plugged into your vehicle's data port that is able to read all of the computers in your vehicle to clear the fault codes. This is the only reset that will work, unfortunately.
If you do not have a scan tool to do this yourself a shop or dealer or someone you may know will need to plug in their scan tool to clear the fault codes and reset the computer. A shop will usually charge around $50 to $100 to do this if needed.
The starter clicking tells me it is trying to engage. It may not be fully engaging due to low voltage from the battery being weak, loose connections at the battery or starter that needs to be resoled, or a fault with the starter itself to where it has to be replaced. In a worst-case scenario, the engine may have seized up due to overheating. To check this, you would need to put a socket and extension as well as a long bar on the crankshaft pulley bolt to try and turn the engine over manually. If it does not budge then the engine was damaged internally and has to be repaired or replaced.
If the engine turns over by hand then the starter, battery, battery cables, and connections all need to be checked to identify which is causing this issue so it can be repaired properly.

Ah man. I just thought about something. Hopefully I'm wrong but tell me what you think. So after trying to repair at about 1 this morning and to no avail, I had a friend there to help me to move it out of the way. I put the transmission into neutral and he was using the front bumper of his Tacoma to push me backwards into a parking spot...now he was having trouble getting the right angle on it to p us me in the right direction due to his truck sitting up higher than mine but it seemed to me as if the tires were not spinning freely...would that be due to the 8° f temperature we had or would that be the motor locking up?

If your vehicle was in neutral and your tires were locked up and skidding while pushing the vehicle this is usually a good indication that the engine is locked up. The short over heat that occurred caused internal engine damage which locked up the engine to where it has to be repaired or replaced.
