I need to disable the passenger side airbag.

If you want to disable it then you would simply unplug the electrical connector from the system. This would prevent the ANY of the airbags in the whole system to function because it will trigger a fault and the airbag (SRS) light will turn on. This will disable the entire system. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM because it will disable the ENTIRE SYSTEM and can cause HARM OR DEATH if the system does not function during an accident. I recommend to repair the system and make sure it functions normally as designed. My goal is to earn a 5 star rating experience. I hope that I have given you the information you needed. Thank you for your expert advice, but that was not the answer I was looking for. I have a 2017 Lincoln MKZ Premiere that I need to turn the passenger side air bag off in temporarily. There is nothing wrong with the airbag system and I only want to disable the passenger side. Any advice on how to do that?The reason I need to disable this function is because my Mom recently had open heart surgery and I am taking care of her. In order for her to be able to sit in the front of my car, I need to disable the passenger side airbag as she can be badly hurt if it deploys and hits her chest area.

Ok great thank you. There is not a function to turn the system off on your vehicle. If it is necessary to modify an advanced front airbag system to accommodate a person with disabilities, contact the Ford Customer Relationship Center. That will be the only way that they can do this. They will have to contact a dealership and authorize them to program your vehicle to turn the front airbags off. Their phone number is: 1-\*\*\*-\*\*\*-\*\*\*\*. If you would prefer to not do this, then your only option will be to have your Mom sit in the rear seat.
