Hello i have a BMW 428i x drive and today my car sent a charging malfunction message. I went to work and came out and started my car and it cut off on me and now it won’t start. I don’t know what the problem is should i get a new battery or something?
Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded?
I could not access the battery because the car wouldn’t open
Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your 428i?
2014
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your 428i yourself? What have you tried so far?
I didn’t try anything to fix it being that i couldn’t get inside the trunk. I can’t even lock the doors
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
Just what i have to do to get the car to move again

you can try a jump start to see if you can get it going but a charging system malfunction is usually a failed alternator (or the belt having come off). If the alternator is not working, you might get the car started but you wont be able to drive it anywhere (it will keep dying) until the alternator is replaced.

you can apply jump power under the hood the power up the car and open the trunk.... or charge the battery from under the hood.

My battery is in my trunk not under my hood

I know that
there are jump posts under the hood that are wired to the battery directly. so you apply jump power under the hood and power up the car to open the trunk, as I said

Still not sure what you need?
Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.
The odometer is located on your instrument panel, between the speedometer and tachometer. The odometer tells you how many miles the vehicle has been driven in its life. You cannot reset the odometer.
No, it is not the catalyst. The P0139 code (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0139-obd-ii-trouble-code-o2-sensor-circuit-slow-response-bank-1-sensor-2) is for the O2 sensor before the catalyst. The code is illuminated when the engine control module is testing the O2 sensor and it cuts the fuel to see if...
Hello there, thank you for asking about your 2004 Honda Civic. You should try to disconnect the AC compressor and run the car as if the AC compressor is plugged in to see if the fuse blows still. If it...
The catalytic converter has very very little to do with the transmission. The catalytic converter will keep the engine from being able to "exhale" and can cause engine problems and damage if faulty, but it wont cause direct transmission issues....
Hi there. The lines that attach to the radiator are either connected by a threaded pipe fitting or a compression type pipe fitting. The compression type fitting will need to be pushed in before removing the line. If you need...
Hi there. If the check engine light came on for the gas cap and then for the fuel pump, either there is an electrical issue around the fuel tank causing the fuel pump to have a intermittent issue, or the...
There are quite a few reasons why the check engine light (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/what-does-the-check-engine-warning-light-mean-by-spencer-cates) illuminates, with an EVAP system malfunction (e.g., loose or defective gas cap) just one possibility. If you request a check engine light diagnostic (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/check-engine-light-is-on-inspection) a certified mechanic from...
Hi There, Code P0135 relates to the heating element on in the oxygen sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/oxygen-sensor-replacement), which hats up the sensor quicker in order for more precise fuel control and reduced emissions. When this element fails, this will trigger this code....
It is possible that some internal damage may have occurred on your transmission. I would recommend having the major components of your transmission inspected by a qualified transmission specialist to determine the exact cause of this issue.
