What if I don't know what's wrong?
Alternators can make noise, due to defective bearings, belt, etc., and still charge the battery. If you are hearing noise from the area of the engine when the car is stationary, if the sound is not really obvious, that is...

Hi. Im not sure how to describe the problem im having. In overdrive crusing at 80 kmh all good but when I put the foot down its like a jerking movement from the rear of the car. The power doesnt seem to want to go to the back wheels then it picks up and settles down smooth again. Ive had the center bearing replaced on the tail shaft and the shaft was re ballanced but they didnt replace the donuts at the front or the rear. Dont know if its drive shaft or trailing arms or something else. It is most noticable in overdrive not so much in lower gears and thats confusing me. Mechanic's Assistant: How old is the transmission? Have you checked the brake switch? No I havent checked the brake switch. I had the car scan tested and nothing came up on the computer. The transmission has done 300000kms but it changes gears beutiful and I paid for a full service on the car thry found a croock plug checked all ignition components and road tested it. All came back good road testing was done in town so didnt get into overdrive. Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your transmissions? 2002 vx commodore V6 and I dont drive like an idiot if you know what I mean. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far? For this problem Ive been looking for professional help. The tail shaft was removed and the center bearing replaced but they didnt replace the donuts (I dont know why) the rubber on the center bearing had gone soft and was about to break so I had it relpaced the problem showed up after that so the tail shaft has been out 3 times since and re ballanced still with the old donuts on it. I dont know if the problem was already there and fixing the center bearing just made it show itself or if the center bearing is just a cheap and nasty job so the support rubber is too soft. Ive taken the car to a different place for the service and scan. Motor is running good. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? I would just like to know if this is going to cost me and if so how much? I dont want to seem cheep but I need a direction to go and Im having trouble findinga mechanic that can actually help.
