How to Prepare for the Colorado Driver’s Written Test

You are almost ready to get behind the wheel and to learn to drive, but there’s still one thing that you need to do. You have to get your driver’s permit by taking and passing the written exam given by the state of Colorado. Their goal with the written exam is to make sure you have all of the required knowledge to be safe and to follow the law when you are driving. Before you can take the test though, you have to study so you can be sure you will pass it on the first try. The following is the best way to learn the information you need in order to pass your test.

The driver’s manual

The Colorado Driver’s Manual is an essential part of the preparation. Fortunately, you no longer have to head to the Department of Motor Vehicles to pick up the manual since it is available online. This means you can download the PDF and start studying right now. The manual has all of the rules of the road you need to know. It includes the road signs, traffic laws, parking laws, and safe driving. Since it is on a PDF, you may want to download it to a tablet, e-reader, and even your phone so you always have access to it in case you have a few extra minutes to read it.

Online tests

Once you’ve gone through the manual, you will want to practice your knowledge before you actually take the real test. To do this, you will find online practice tests that can give you a good indication of what you know and how much more studying you should do before you schedule your test. DMV Written Test is a fantastic resource. They offer several practice exams that you can take, all of which have questions taken right from the manual. The tests have 25 questions each, and you will have to answer at least 20 of the questions correctly in order to pass. Once you start to do well with the online tests, you will find that your confidence starts to grow.

Get an app

In addition to the online tests and the driver’s manual, getting an app or two to help you study for your test can help as well. The apps provide you with test questions and study information that you can use to improve your knowledge and to prepare for your tests. The Colorado DMV Permit Test is available through the App Store and Google Play, as is Drivers Ed.

A final tip

When it comes time to take your actual exam, do not rush. Go through the questions and read them carefully. The answers are right there, and if you’ve prepared and studied, you will have no trouble choosing the right one. They aren’t trying to make you fail the test by throwing trick questions at you. It’s the same questions that are on the practice tests. Good luck with passing your test!
