If you rent vehicles from Hertz with any regularity, it may be prudent to join the car rental company’s rewards club. Members can accrue points to use toward free rental days and other discounts without paying any membership fees.
Other perks to membership include services that enable you to bypass waiting in line at the counter, such as the eReturn service, which allows you to complete drop-off paperwork electronically and simply leave the keys to your rental in a designated and protected receptacle.

Part 1 of 1: Becoming a Hertz Club member
Step 1: Visit the Hertz website. Click on the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards tab in the upper right of your browser’s screen to learn more about the advantages of membership, review Frequently Asked Questions, or go straight to joining the club.
Each of these choices is accessible from the drop-down menu, and you can return to this starting screen after clicking on one of the options by clicking on the back button on your browser.
Step 2: Click “Join” to access the registration form. Once you have reviewed the benefits of being a Hertz Club member and are sure you want to be part of the club, select the “Overview/Join” option from the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards drop-down menu and then click on the “Join Now For Free” button to access the online registration form.
Fill out the first step of the required registration with your personal details, including your name, birth date, and driver’s license number.
Bear in mind that you must be 21 years of age or older to join.
Then, click the “Continue” button on the bottom of the page to input more information.
Step 3: Input your contact details. Enter your email, which will double as your Hertz Club user ID, and choose a password. Then, provide at least one telephone number.
Hertz also provides an opportunity to sign up for text alerts about any rental reservations you may have in the future and the previously mentioned program eReturn, which allows you to electronically complete rental car drop-offs. These programs are optional.
Click the “Continue” button at the bottom of the page to proceed.
Step 4: Continue entering the requested information and clicking “Continue”. There are six pages to the online Hertz Club registration before the process is complete.
Aside from your address and other general details, Hertz requires you to link a valid credit card – not a debit card – to your account to cover any expenses you may incur in the future. Once you have finished filling out the six pages, click the “Continue” button one last time. This takes you to a confirmation page, letting you know that the process is complete and that your Hertz Club membership card will be mailed to you.
- Tip: If you do not wish to register for Hertz club membership online, you can complete the process by calling 800-654-3131 or by visiting a Hertz rental office in person. You will still have to provide the same information and a valid credit card as in the online registration, but you will not have to worry about any sensitive data being intercepted by a third party.
There are three levels of Hertz reward club membership. Hertz Gold Plus Rewards is completely free and provides perks like expedited rental service, the ability to earn rewards points toward freebies and discounts, and access to exclusive email offers.
