To meet the ever-increasing demand for certified automotive technicians, Mercedes-Benz had to increase its training opportunities. Today, you can get an automotive technician job repairing and servicing Mercedes-Benz vehicles, and get Mercedes-Benz dealership certified in several ways. One is through one of two auto mechanic schools partnered with Mercedes and the other is through a partnership with UTI. Any of these pathways will enable you to begin working with this prestigious, high-quality brand.
MBUSI Technical Program
Started only in 2012, the Mercedes Benz Automotive Systems Technical Program relies on the University of West Alabama and on Shelton State Community College to provide students with the training essential to working in the automotive diagnostics and repair areas. Though it also prepares learners for line work in assembly, the training also enables them to take mechanics jobs in Mercedes-Benz vehicle repair as well.
The training will provide:
- Six terms of study at one of the two schools
- Work at the Mercedes plant each week
- An opportunity to work directly with Mercedes Benz upon graduation
- Earning while learning as students are paid for their hours in the factory
Mercedes Benz ELITE Programs
Mercedes Benz has also partnered with UTI Universal Technical Institute to offer students two unique pathways to becoming Mercedes Benz dealership certified.
The first is the ELITE START program, which when complete provides the student with a Qualified Technician status once they complete six months of work in a dealership. This is a 12-week program that is student paid, and will provide the student with focused training in the procedures and operations most commonly used by dealerships in light repair and maintenance.
The courses cover:
*An introduction to Mercedes-Benz *Chassis electronics *Driving dynamics and comfort control systems *Engine management and pre-delivery inspection
The second program is the Mercedes Benz DRIVE program that is meant for those already working at a dealership, but eager to increase their skill set. This is a manufacturer-paid training program, and it is open only to those with proven skills and qualifications.
This training will rely on hands-on and workshop specific exercise that enable technicians to diagnose and repair these high-end vehicles. The studies include:
*An introduction to Mercedes-Benz *Basic Diagnostic Strategies *Brakes and Traction *Career Development *Climate Control *Disassembly *Electrical *Engine Management Systems *Service/Maintenance *Suspension *Telematics
When complete, the training provides the student with a Systems Technician when they complete six months of employment at a dealership.
Whether you already have some experience working as a tech, or you are interested in one of the automotive technician jobs possible through Mercedes-Benz dealership certification, you have several options.
Regardless of the path you follow to become one of the in-demand auto techs for a Mercedes-Benz dealership or service center, your auto mechanic training will be of immense value. You can build on your existing knowledge or use one of the partner schools to begin studying the skills essential to any Mercedes-Benz dealership.
