The AC control assembly is the name given to the collection of HVAC controls inside the cabin, mounted in your dash. Generally, these consist of a temperature control, a blower speed control, recirculation control and more. While they might look like separate knobs and buttons, they’re actually built into a single control unit. The body of the unit is installed inside the dash, and only the actual controls are visible to the driver and passengers. The AC control assembly provides information to the AC control module about the settings that have been selected and the control module adjusts the HVAC output based on that information. If the AC control assembly is not working correctly, it is likely that you will get incorrect air flow, source, or temperature from the vents.
The AC control assembly provides you with the means to adjust the temperature and speed at which air is blown into the cabin. It also allows you to adjust things like whether you’re receiving fresh air from outside, or recirculating air through the cabin. Other features may be built into the assembly as well depending on the make and model in question. Your AC control unit allows you to operate and adjust all aspects of your car’s HVAC system. If the control unit is not working correctly or has failed completely, you’ll be unable to set a comfortable temperature, and won’t be able to control airflow to your defrost setting to clear foggy windows.
