Hi. All electronics is completely dead on my 06 A4 Audi Avant. Nothing lights up when switching on ignition. I don’t think that it’s the battery as I did not leave any light or switch on. What could be the cause? Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about? On the dashboard Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your A4? 2006 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your A4 yourself? What have you tried so far? I tried to start it this morning and nothing is happening. I’d like to get some idea of what it could be before calling out a mechanic. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No. That’s it.

Howdy from Tennessee, I'm Chris aka Moose. Who am I helping today? I'm glad you've come here to get help. I will do my best to get the answer you are looking for. I help many customers, so sometimes my replies are delayed, I will respond once available. I try to be online at 1-5 pm and 10 pm-5 am every day. Although this may not seem like a battery concern. That is the first place to check. Inspect the cables to make sure they are tight and clean, make sure the cables going to the chassis and fuse box are also tight and clean. Test the voltage on the battery posts, battery cables, high amp fuses, and the large wire on the alternator. All readings should match and a good reading will be around 12.6 volts. Thank you for seeking us for help, I hope I provided what was needed. Press reply if you need to follow up. If you liked my answer please let me know so I can mark your question complete. Moose

Car wont run in D at first, need to start in second or first gear.
This may be related to a few different issues such as a faulty shift solenoid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/shift-interlock-solenoid-replacement) or failing torque converter in your transmission. When either of these happen and too much torque is applied (i.e. starting in 1st gear), this...
