When I first get in my car and I start it up when I hit the gas I have to tap it slowly and then it will start moving
Mechanic's Assistant: Have you noticed an increase in fuel consumption? And how does the vehicle start—same as usual?
It's not doing anything unusual unusual other than when I tap the gas I have to be careful when I tap it so it won't fly off
Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car?
A 2000 Toyota [Corolla](/topics-corolla/)
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Corolla yourself? What have you tried so far?
The last thing I had done to the car was I got a [fuel pump](/topics-fuel-pump-toyota/) put in it and it was trash on the line and the guy clean the trash out the line
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
That's it thank you

Ok, So, you have to hit the gas lightly to get the car to start or it won't move forward if you don't step on the gas lightly?

exactly it's kind of scary because I have to keep tapping it and then it will bump and then starts moving it just started this like a couple of days ago other than that I have no problems with this car I have to tap it likely because if I tap it hard it will speed off

Ok
I think what you are going to need to do to start with is check the transmission fluid, or have a shop check it. There should be a dipstick on the transmission so you can check the level. It sounds like it might be low and causing a problem. Most parts stores would check it for you more then likely. It does sound like you need to have someone locally drive the car to make sure it's safe as well.

If you have it checked out and they start talking and you don't understand, you can post back here with me and I will do what I can to make sure you understand what they are saying. I know it can be confusing.

Ah, ok, this makes sense.
What you want to do is have them clean the throttle body, and see if it continues to stick, if it does, then you'll want to replace the throttle cable to solve this. It's important it gets repaired for sure.

I would ballpark the repair around $150 installed parts and labor.
