When you try to start the vehicle, do the lights dim or turn off? Does the [engine](/topics-engine-toyota/) try to crank over? Does the Highlander have a alarm system installed?

The engine does not try crank over. I didn't notice a change in the lights. It has the factory alarm.

Ok, no problem.
Most common areas for a no start/crank condition could be a faulty [starter](/topics-starter-toyota/) motor. Sometimes the brushes inside the starter wears out and causes a no start condition because of poor internal electrical connection.
The factory alarm should not effect the no start condition because it does not disable the starter.
Poor battery connection maybe the issue. Double check your connections and try jump starting with another car or a jumper pack. It's possible the new battery maybe faulty. New doesn't always mean good.
These are some of the common areas to check, but without any testing equipment to test the starter circuit, we are pretty throwing darts at it.
