I have a landcruiser 1994. Auto some times esp on hot days the car will stop being responsive and well behaved to wanting to stall or even the [engine](/topics-engine-toyota/) stop at lower revs. It seems like a mis fire when it's idling but after the car is cool it's good again. It will begin to happen after about 2hrs of driving if it's not esp hot day.
Mechanic's Assistant: How many miles are on the car? What size is the engine?
260,000 Kms
Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model of your '94 car?
Toyota Landcruisr 4.5 GXL 1994 AWL
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
It tried the replacing the igniter seems good but has come back about 1 month later
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
I'm thinking of replacing leads and plugs as they are about 10years old which is fair life but was wondering why its mostly low revs as at higher reves it seems OK which indicates an IACV

Good Evening, my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* ill be helping you, so sorry to hear about the issues here on the Land Cruiser. I know how frustrating it can be to deal with intermittent engine issues. Now suspecting the leads and plugs is a great place to start. With the issue being dependent on heat i am leaning to an engine speed sensor acting up. These typically act up when temperatures go up and add electrical resistance. In order to narrow it down a diagnostic tool is needed to monitor the output of the sensor and verify that it does not have an inconsistent signal when hot. I would also recommend we go ahead and verify that our intake tract has no restrictions or that the throttle has no signs of being dirty or blocked up.

I have checked the hose from the throttle body/ measuring on the [air filter](/topics-air-filter-toyota/) to the manifold as I once had that fail and was characterized by this when placed into reverse. I have changed the air filter too.

Thanks I'll go through the major service items then and I consider my options. Seems that I'll just need to eliminate in order much like I do with my as built engines for my lotus.

The ABS and Traction control use sensors located in the tire area. There are hub bearings (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/wheel-hub-assembly-replacement) that are paired with sensors operation. The clunk sound could be some type of wear that needs to be look at as soon...
Hi there. Since this occurred right after driving in some dusty conditions, I would check the air filter first. If the air filter is dirty then this will occur. If the air filter is fine, then I would also clean...
